APAO Prof. Yasuo Tano Travel Grants
The Asia-Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology is offering up to 10 Prof. Yasuo Tano Travel Grants to support selected delegates attending the 38th APAO Congress in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on February 23 – 26, 2023.
The Prof. Yasuo Tano Travel Grants are open to ophthalmologists in the Asia-Pacific region, with priority given to those whose age is 40 or less, from a developing country and whose abstracts (Free Paper, Poster, ePoster, Video or Instruction Course) have been accepted by the APAO 2023 Scientific Program Committee.
Each successful applicant will receive US$1,000 if they live outside the host country of the APAO 2023 Congress, whereas those who live in Malaysia will receive US$300.
Please note that previous recipients of the Prof. Yasuo Tano Travel Grants are welcome to re-apply, though priority will be given to first-time recipients. Applications from the latest Travel Grant recipients will not be accepted.

APAO Young Ophthalmologists (YO) Travel Grants
Initiated for the APAO 2020 Congress but interrupted by the pandemic, the APAO Young Ophthalmologists (YO) Travel Grants will be launched for the 38th APAO Congress. The YO Travel Grants support up to 5 residents in training or fellows in the Asia-Pacific region. Each successful applicant will receive US$1,000 if they live outside the host country of the APAO 2023 Congress, whereas those who live in Malaysia will receive US$300.
YO Travel Grants are open to residents, trainees, or fellow ophthalmologists[1] from a developing country and whose abstracts (Free Paper, Poster, ePoster, Video or Instruction Course) have been accepted by the APAO 2023 Scientific Program Committee.

MSO-MyCEB Travel Grants
The Malaysian Society of Ophthalmology (MSO), with support from the Malaysia Convention and Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB), is offering a limited number of grants to support and encourage delegates to attend the 38th APAO Congress in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Each successful applicant would receive up to MYR2,000.
Priority will be given to applicants whose abstracts (Free Paper, Poster, ePoster, Video or Instruction Course) have been accepted by the APAO 2023 Scientific Program Committee.
MSO Travel Grants are for accommodation reimbursement only. Successful applicants’ accommodation during the Congress period will be reimbursed by the MSO based on actual costs supported by an original receipt or invoice with a maximum grant of MYR2,000.
2023 MSO-MyCEB Travel Grants Recipients
Each eligible applicant can apply for more than one type of Travel Grants at the same time, but he/ she can only receive one Travel Grant through the selection process.
In addition to the funding for travels, recipients of any of the three Travel Grants will also get free Congress Registration and invitations to Congress Cultural Party cum Award Ceremony.
[1] Only applicants who register for the APAO 2023 Congress under ‘Trainees’ category (more registration details here) are eligible to apply for the YO Travel Grants. Trainee declaration (i.e., the identification letter from the training or program director) is required to gain access to the online application.
